Counselling
We offer women initially 16 free face to face counselling sessions with a possibility to extend these.
Counselling is a chance to be heard, and to talk about what has happened to you. Your counsellor will listen to you and value you without judging you. You will be supported to make changes in your life. You will not be told what to do; your counsellor will help you to decide for yourself.
All are counsellors, paid and unpaid, are professionally trained counsellors.
Helpline support – 0114 2447936
We offer phone line support to women whether they attend our service or not. Our helpline is staffed on a Tuesday 2pm until 8pm and Thursday evening between 6 and 8pm. When this is not staffed you can leave a message on the 24 hour answer phone, and a counsellor or helpline support worker will return your call as soon as possible. You can let us know when would be most convenient for us to call and whether or not we can leave a message at your home or work, or whether we should be discreet.
Friends and relatives
We offer immediate female friends and relatives of survivors helpline support and up to six counselling sessions and can also put them in touch with appropriate organisations for ongoing support or counselling. Male friends and relatives of survivors are also welcome to ring our helpline for support, and we can put them in touch with support agencies.
Please download our friends and relatives booklet for further information.
