Consent is where a person has the ability to agree to sexual activity. Together we can stop rape by ensuring everyone knows when they have sexual consent and when they do not. Sex without consent is rape.
At SRASAC we seek to enable all survivors of rape and sexual abuse to become empowered to live the lives they want to live. We support women, men and children who have been victims of sexual abuse and rape, regardless of at what stage in their the abuse happened to them. Your donation will help to provide specialist therapeutic counselling, Helpline support and Specialist Independent Violence Advisor (ISVA) support to all survivors in Sheffield, to help them through their journey of recovery.
We believe that perpetrators choose to rape and that it CAN be prevented. Victim blaming is a barrier to many victims coming forward to report rape or seek support. At SRASAC we speak out and challenge the myths and stereotypes that exist around sexual violence. Please donate to help us continue to campaign to end sexual violence against all women, men and children.
Last year Rape Crisis Centres in England and Wales had 163,000 calls to their Helplines; that's over 3,000 every week. Our Helpline is staffed by volunteer women who have completed a 10-week in-house training programme. Following training and assessment they receive continuous supervision and support. Your donation can help to pay for a Helpline Volunteer training programme and for their ongoing support and mentoring.
For many women, men and children who have been victims of Rape or Sexual Abuse, the call they make to us is the first time they have ever spoken about the abuse. It is vital for their recovery that they are believed and supported through their journey of recovery. At SRASAC we understand how hard it is to have the courage to seek support. Please donate to help us continue to support victims of Rape and Sexual Abuse in Sheffield who have taken that brave step forward.
